18 ct gold
18 carat gold is alloyed with 75% pure gold, 15% silver and 19% copper. If it does not harm your piece, it gets a ‘18K’ stamp. The pricelist of 18ct gold pieces gets adjusted according to fluctuating gold prices.
18ct gold is the purest and most costly gold used to make modern jewellery. When compared to 9ct and 14ct gold, 18ct gold is significantly less likely to tarnish.
Because of the high concentration of gold in the alloy, it is a bit softer. So take care of your 18ct gold piece since it will scratch more easily.
14ct gold
9ct gold
9 carat gold is alloyed with 37,5% pure gold, 42,5% silver and 20% copper. If it does not harm your piece, it gets a ‘9K’ stamp.
Worldwide, 9ct gold jewellery is a popular choice for people on a budget. It is both durable and affordable. It makes up for its lack of purity with robustness and affordibility. Although not often used in Belgium, 9ct gold is often used in engagement rings and wedding bands in New Zealand and the UK. 9ct gold seems somewhat paler than purer alloys, altough you will have to look closely to see the difference with 14ct gold.
While pure yellow gold will never tarnish and will always keep its original color, the high concentration of other metals in 9ct gold makes it prone to discoloration. Special care is required to ensure that your 9ct gold jewelry retains its natural luster.
925 sterling silver
Sterling silver is alloyed with 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper. If it does not harm your piece, it receives a ‘925’ stamp.
Sterling silver naturally oxidises over time due to contact with air, light, and humidity. This is not a problem if you know how to care for it.
gold plated
Gold plated pieces are intentionally not on offer. Admitted, with good care they can last a long time, but never a lifetime.
To keep things affordable, we make an exception for a few chunkier and contemporary earrings and necklaces.
Our gold-plated jewelry is 925 sterling silver covered in a layer of 18ct gold. The layer can be applied in different thicknesses.
Rings, bracelets and necklaces have a slightly thicker coverage (5 microns) as friction with the skin can accelerate wear and tear.
Earrings are covered with 3 microns. It is normal for gold-plated jewellery to lose a bit of its glow when worn often.
If you really like a piece but we don't offer the gold plated variant, contact us. Also most pieces can be replated when they've lost their initial luster.
packaging
Our packaging is a vehicle to get our jewellery to you, but we purposely designed it to be re-used as a jewelry box for your favorite pieces.
Our box with magnetic closure is made from consciously chosen materials with a wool felt bottom layer to protect your pieces from scratching.
If you already have a jewelry box, please give the box a usefull spot in your home to keep small and precious things.
We put in too much love and effort for you to throw it out!
